Ajax drew 1-1 on Saturday in the practice match against RB Leipzig.

The duel in Grödig, Austria, was mainly dominated by the tragic death of Ajax youth player Noah Gesser.

AZ booked a handsome 1-0 win over Real Sociedad.

Ajax got off to a great start and took the lead in the fourth minute thanks to a goal from Dusan Tadic.

The captain convincingly shot the ball into the far corner after a good pass by Noussair Mazraoui.

After that Ajax was quite toothless and it was a matter of waiting for the 1-1.

That fell in the 52nd minute with a goal from Christopher Nkunku.

The attacker passed goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and shot the ball in from a difficult angle.

Leipzig had a number of good chances for victory in the remainder, but no more goals were scored.

On behalf of Ajax, only Steven Berghuis was dangerous again with a rehearsed free kick.

The players of Ajax wore mourning bands and prior there was a minute of silence in memory of Gesser, who was only sixteen, who died on Friday with his eighteen-year-old brother in a car accident in IJsselstein, Utrecht.

Ajax in the strongest possible line-up

Ajax played in the strongest possible formation.

Maarten Stekelenburg, Lisandro Martínez, Nicolás Tagliafico and Davy Klaassen made their first minutes in this preparation, but were replaced in the half, except for Stekelenburg.

Trainer Erik ten Hag still missed Edson Álvarez and Antony due to international obligations with Mexico and the Brazilian Olympic team and Mohammed Kudus, Zakaria Labyad and Sean Klaiber due to injuries.

At Leipzig Brian Brobbey was missing.

The striker, who was taken over from Ajax on a free transfer this summer, is injured.

Leipzig will be in action next Saturday in the first round of the DFB-Pokal and will visit SV Sandhausen.

With the duel with Leipzig, Ajax, which is still unbeaten in this preparation, closed the training camp in Austria.

The team will practice at home against Leeds United on Wednesday and will play against PSV at home on Saturday in the battle for the Johan Cruijff Scale.

Koopmeiners makes a comeback at AZ

Later on Saturday, AZ won the first game with an audience in the renovated AFAS Stadium.

The Alkmaarders were 1-0 too strong for Real Sociedad.

Zakaria Aboukhlal provided the only goal after more than half an hour.

The attacker scored with a nice bow ball.

Teun Koopmeiners made his comeback at AZ.

The captain seemed to leave quickly after the European Championship with the Dutch national team, in which he did not play a minute.

Atalanta would like to take him over from AZ, but Koopmeiners has doubts because more clubs are interested.

Myron Boadu, Owen Wijndal and Marco Bizot were missing.

Boadu has been given time and space by the management to complete negotiations with AS Monaco about a transfer.

"There is concrete interest, but there is no agreement between the clubs yet," Huiberts told ESPN.

AZ will practice at home against Torino next Sunday and start the Eredivisie on Saturday 14 August with an away game against RKC Waalwijk.

The play-offs of the Europa League are scheduled for Thursday 19 August and Thursday 26 August.
