French judo star Teddy Riner finally won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday, beating his Japanese opponent Hisayoshi Harasawa by the golden score in the small final.

Riner thus wins France's 7th medal in judo, the 13th overall.

It's a nice consolation prize for Teddy Riner.

The giant French judoka won in the small final of the + 100 kilos category against the Japanese Hisayoshi Harasawa, penalized with a red card during the golden score.

The star of judo thus won the 7th medal for France in this discipline at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the 13th of the French delegation.

Double Olympic champion in 2012 and 2016, Riner experienced terrible disillusionment with his loss in the quarterfinals to Russian Tamerlan Bashaev.

But with the bronze, he adds a fourth medal to his Olympic collection after his two golds and his bronze of 2008 in Beijing.
