The three top clubs are said to be relying on a court decision in Madrid on Friday, which will mean that Uefa must end its disciplinary action on participation in the league.

It was in April that twelve clubs from the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A announced the formation of the Super League.

But the plans were dropped three days later after strong protests from fans, and strong opposition from, among others, the European federation Uefa, the international federation Fifa and domestic leagues.

The three clubs mentioned are also the only ones who have not yet resigned from the breakaway league, and have once again announced their intention to continue the plans with the Super League project.

Uefa declines comment

In a joint statement, the clubs say the following, among other things:

"We are happy that in the future we will no longer be exposed to UEFA's ongoing threats.

We are aware that there are parts of our proposal that should be reviewed and, of course, can be improved through dialogue.

We are convinced that this is a successful project that will always comply with EU law. "

The clubs that were originally in the Super League were AC Milan, Arsenal FC, Atlético de Madrid, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, FC Internazionale Milano, Juventus FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid CF and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to the BBC, Uefa has declined to comment on the outcome from Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid.
