After the Olympic silver in Rio 2016, Peder Fredricson worked to make his rounds faster.

It was a clear goal against the European Championships at home in 2017. As you know, it ended with a gold.

The work with speed has since continued.

- I have worked with that, to come to a competition and really try to win.

Not to come to competition and ride as fast as you can and be happy with a fifth place.

It is important to raise the bar on training at home, says Peder Fredricson.

He says he takes help from Peter Eriksson, who himself has five Olympics in his luggage.

They set up the training in such a way that you end the training session as if you are trying to win a jump.

He describes the combination of having a fast horse and the importance of smart choices.

- It is both about ground work, having the horse gymnastic and in balance, and that the communication is there.

But it is also a question of attitude and if you train at home regularly, it does not make much difference when you do it in competition, he continues.

The press looks a little different

With all the successes, such as championship medals and victories in the big Grand Prix competitions, the pressure has increased.

But he thinks that the press has also changed thanks to the fact that he now has the opportunity to often participate in big competitions.

- Now I am exposed to pressure every week, so you keep it going.

It's like when you are afraid of something, if you are exposed to it all the time, it ebbs a little grand, says Fredricson.

- But it is still there and it should be there!

When he describes the Olympics, he means that it is special.

Several of the major competitions he participates in are very large in the equestrian world, but the Olympics reach a different audience.

Then he starts smiling directly at the question of what thoughts he himself has before the Olympics.

- There are new conditions and challenges this time.

Anything can happen, but I have, as you said, an Olympic silver, so I would rather come home with a gold than a bronze.

If you now get to choose a medal..color..value, he says with a laugh.
