The women's volleyball team won the set score 3-0 over Kenya in the second round of the Tokyo Olympics group qualifier held at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan on the 27th.

The national team, which suffered a 3-0 loss to Brazil in the first leg, succeeded in reviving the atmosphere and reported their first victory at the Olympics.

After the match, the players celebrated their first victory by facing the relay camera.

Captain Kim Yeon-kyung said, "It was a pity that the match against Brazil did not come out as much as we had prepared, but it feels good to win as the part we practiced against Kenya came out.

The national team's match had

three issues

.

The first is that it was the first two-day, one-night match in history.

The national team was originally scheduled to start the game at 9:45 pm.

However, when SBS reporters arrived at Ariake Arena just in time for the start of the match, the match between Brazil and the Dominican Republic was still in progress.

As the two teams played a full set battle, our national team had to wait indefinitely.

After the match was over with Brazil's victory and the court was repaired, it was past 10:30 pm when our players stepped on the court.

After I warmed up, the game started around 11 o'clock.

The match, which started an hour or so late, went as expected for our national team to dominate. He struggled with the fast tempo of his opponent in the early part of the first set, but succeeded in reversing immediately after going through the operation time. Following the first set, we won the second set and entered the third set, and the time passed midnight. It was the first time I watched a game for 2 days and 1 night while covering volleyball. The players also played their first two days and one night match. It was 12:32 a.m. when we overcame Kenya's pursuit and secured a 3-0 victory for our national team. After Kim Yeon-kyung finished the interview with the Olympic broadcast, the time in front of the SBS camera reached 12:41. He seemed tired, but Kim Yeon-kyung did not take it seriously.

"I think it's the first time a game has been played for two days and one night. I think it's the first time a match ends at 1 am, but it's okay. But now, there is no jet lag, so there doesn't seem to be a big problem in that regard."

The second issue was the absurd arrival of referee Sumie Myoi, a Japanese national. At the decisive moment of the day, referee Myo Yi poured cold water on the rise of our national team with an absurd coming. In the first set, Kim Yeon-kyung succeeded in a push-in attack, but gave the goal signal late and created the first problem. In the second set, the ball pushed by Park Jung-ah hit the opponent's blocking and hit the antenna. At the moment when our goal was taken for granted, referee Myoy acknowledged Kenya's goal. The players protested, but to no avail. Kim Sani, SBS commentator, pointed out the error saying, "It's not a problem at all."

In the 3rd set, referee Myo Yi's absurd mishandling dominated the game. With a 15-12 lead, Hyeseon Yeom's receive went over to the opponent's court, and Kenyan player tried to push it in. At this time, Kim Yeon-kyung stepped in to block, and it looked like a blocker touchout, and Kenya scored. However, Kim Yeon-kyung strongly protested that it did not fit her hand. It was confirmed that the ball hit by the Kenyan player did not hit Yeon-kyung Kim's hand even on the slow screen that came out of the video reading request. Even after staring at the scene, the referee Myo Yi did not overturn the decision. The national team was reversed 21-20 in a chaotic situation, but at the moment of crisis, Kim Yeon-kyung played a big role and ended the game in a 3-0 victory. If the national team conceded 3 sets without overcoming the misunderstanding, the game is most likely over at 1 am. As the third game against Dominica was scheduled for 11 a.m. the next day, if 4 sets had progressed, it seems that the national team's physical burden would have increased.

The final issue against Kenya is the resurrection of light striker Kim Hee-jin.

Kim Hee-jin, who had surgery on her left knee after last season, was called by coach Lavarini before she could fully recover.

Kim Hee-jin has been rehabilitating with her attributes, but her physical condition has hardly improved.

A somewhat sluggish performance in the first leg against Brazil raised concerns, but he was completely revived in the match against Kenya.

He took the lead in winning by pouring 20 points, including 4 sub-aces and 1 blocking.

Kim Yeon-kyung also welcomed Kim Hee-jin's resurrection.

“I came to the Olympics this time after suffering an injury, and I personally had a hard time and I think it must have been difficult even coming here, but I think he is a player who can do well. I think you can give it to me."

Kim Yeon-kyung is determined to use the bridgehead to advance to the quarterfinals by winning the match against Dominica on the morning of the 29th.

"I am very grateful for your support until late and breathing with us. The next match with Dominica is important, so we will work hard so that we can repay you with good results. Fighting!"
