A 'terrorist controversy' has arisen over Iran's Javad Porugi, who won the gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Porugi won the gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol event at the Tokyo Olympics on the 24th, setting an Olympic record, and is the first athlete to win a gold medal for Iran.

Jin Jong-oh (Seoul City Hall), the 'Pistol Emperor' also participated in this event.

However, controversy arose when it became known that Porugi was a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

IRGC is a terrorist organization designated by the US government.

According to 'Daily Wire' on the 28th, Porugi said that after winning the gold medal, he was dispatched to Syria as a nurse from 2013 to 2015 and served.

Iranian human rights activists protested, saying, "The International Olympic Committee (IOC) should not overlook that Porughi is a member of the terrorist organization IRGC."

It was also criticized for posting a congratulatory message on Twitter by the IOC saying, "Porugi won the men's air pistol gold medal on the first Olympic stage. Well done."

'United for Navid', a group of athletes who fight for human rights in Iran, criticized the Jerusalem Post, saying, "Giving Porughi an Olympic gold medal is a disaster not only for Iranian sports, but also for the international community."

Jin Jong-oh, who returned to Korea today (28th), also joined the ranks of criticism.

Jin Jong-oh criticized the organizing committee, saying, "The quarantine rules were not followed well. It was dangerous." "It seems that the organizing committee made the wrong preparations. Did such a nonsensical thing happen where a terrorist took the first place?
