Today's story in the Tokyo Olympics... a gymnast tries to "expel demons"

American gymnast Simone Biles' career may be over at the Olympic Games currently being held in Tokyo.

The absence of the 24-year-old daughter from the full singles competition was confirmed Thursday, a day after her shock withdrawal from the team competition for psychological reasons.

USA Gymnastics announced in a statement, "Following further medical evaluation, Simone Biles withdrew from the full singles competition. We strongly support Simone's decision and commend her courage in prioritizing her well-being. Her courage, once again, shows why she is a role model for so many." She will be "evaluated daily to determine whether she will participate" and will be replaced by ninth-placed Jade Curry.

All eyes were on Biles as one of the biggest stars of the games, as the 24-year-old was looking to raise her number of gold medals to nine, but she admitted the pressure "I really feel like the whole world is on my shoulder sometimes." She said she was trying to "exorcise the demons" when the competitions started, adding: "Mental health. I must do what is right for me and focus on my mental health and not put my health and life at risk."
