On Wednesday, the news came that Wilson has been suspended for the time being after testing positive for anabolic steroids.

It was a sample taken out of competition on March 15 this year that showed traces of the anabolic steroid trenbolone - a substance that is banned both in and out of competition.

Alex Wilson first appealed the decision, claiming that he ingested the substance after eating contaminated meat at a Jamaican restaurant in the United States.

The appeal led to the suspension of the temporary suspension he was granted by the Swiss Athletics Federation.

But now came the news that Wilson will be suspended for the time being after the sports arbitration court, CAS, has chosen to suspend him.

- We were not happy with the Swiss decision to lift his suspension.

This ruling from CAS is right and proper, this is how the rules should be applied, says Brett Clothier, head of AIU, the athletics integrity unit.

Alex Wilson is the second Swiss runner to be caught for doping before the Olympics after Kariem Hussein, who got caught earlier this week.

- It is a big disappointment.

It makes me angry that two such established athletes end up in the spotlight for this, says Christoph Seiler, chairman of the Swiss Athletics Federation.
