Record world champion Simone Biles will not take part in the Olympic all-around final for gymnasts in Tokyo on Thursday.
The US association officially announced this on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old abandoned her competition after the first of four rounds at the team final on Tuesday and then explained this with mental problems.
The US squad came in second behind the ROC team and ahead of Great Britain.
The announcement said that Biles' participation in the device finals in the coming week will be decided “from day to day”.
