Ryosuke Irie advanced to the semi-final in 8th place overall with a time of 1'56.97 in the qualifying for the men's 200-meter backstroke at the Tokyo Olympics.
Keita Sunama also finished at 1:57:07 and decided to advance to the semi-finals in 9th place overall.
Irie "Human, I thought about moving forward"
Ryosuke Irie said, "I swam with only the idea of pushing the tops firmly."
Sunama "I'm very happy to be able to swim another race for the time being."
Keita Sunama said, "I was nervous, but I'm very happy that I can swim another race for the time being. I was about to be drunk by the unique atmosphere of the Olympics, but I believed in what I had done and swam." I was looking back on my first race at the Olympics.
