30-year-old Anna Bernholm, who was eighth seeded in the 70 kg class, defeated Tunisian Nihel Landolsi in her first match in the iconic martial arts arena Nippon Budokan.

In the round of 16 she had to face the Italian Alice Bellandi, and completely dominated the match.

Fell with seconds left

The Italian received two passivity warnings, but Bernholm did not get any points - and the match seemed to go to extra time.

But with only a few seconds left, the Italian got Bernholm down, and in the very last second the referee gave the Italian a point because medal-aiming Bernholm got his shoulder down in the mat.

Thus, the Olympic tournament was over for Bernholm.

Nyman against Spaniards

Thus, Marcus Nyman is the only Swede left in the judo tournaments.

He will be placed in the round of 16 later on Wednesday against one of the pre-favorites, the Spaniard Nikoloz Sherazadishvili.

Nyman has never defeated Sherazadishvili before.

- I got a perfect first match, now I'm getting started properly.

Now the Spaniard, reigning world champion and worst possible opponent awaits.

But I'm tagged and will go in and give everything.

He had a much tougher first match, so hopefully I have a little more left to give, says Nyman, according to TT.
