“All broadcasts available only on the Internet, which Channel One receives directly from the official IOC broadcaster, OBS (Olympic Broadcasting Services) in Tokyo, are blocked for broadcasting in Crimea at the request of the International Olympic Committee,” Ernst said in an interview with TASS.

He added that it is the IOC that provides geo-blocking of all special projects and broadcasts available only on the Internet, including on olympics.1tv.ru.

It is noted that at the same time, Channel One covers the Games in Tokyo on the territory of Crimea "without restrictions on television and on-air broadcasts on the website www.1tv.ru from the first day of the Olympics."

The Tokyo Olympics, postponed from 2020 due to coronavirus, will end on August 8.

Crimea became part of Russia as a result of a referendum held in March 2014: the majority of the inhabitants of the peninsula spoke in favor of reunification with Russia.
