A new chapter had ink on its first pages and Zlatan Ibrahimovic was back in the Swedish national team.

This spring, the Milan star made his first minutes in the blue and yellow national team uniform in five years and the idea was that he with the captain's armband around his arm would lead Sweden at this summer's European Championships.

Instead, a knee injury put a stop to it - and the saga took a gloomy turn.

It has been unclear whether there will be a continuation in Blågult.

Up until now.

- According to my sources close to him in Milan, Zlatan is completely set on coming back and playing in the national team again.

It is of course about and when he will be ready to play - and if he will be called of course, says SVT's Italy correspondent Jennifer Wegerup.

The 39-year-old does everything to continue playing.

- He may even be more motivated than when he was younger.

He is incredibly eager to get started again and wants to continue his career as long as possible.

Have realized

Ibrahimovic has realized that the end of his career is near and therefore takes advantage of every moment on the football field.

And he feels he's not done with football.

- Already in Paris in 2014, he told me that when you are young you do not understand how big things like winning the gold ball and other things are.

As time goes on, you understand more and more.

Zlatan turns 40 this autumn and knows that the end is near, it does not matter what super mentality or physique he has because there will be a limit, like the one this spring, that makes it end.

That is why he is keen to be with as long as possible.

- Time is perhaps the only opponent he can not defeat.

The striker's rehabilitation is going well and the club has good hopes that he will soon be ready to play.
