Sailor Marit Bouwmeester rose to third place on Tuesday in the general classification of the Laser Radial class at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The Dutch finished third in the fifth race.

Bouwmeester had to tolerate the Swedish winner Josefin Olsson and the Hungarian Maria Erdi (second).

The reigning Olympic champion climbed two places in the standings.

She only has the Norwegian frontrunner Line Flem Høst and the Danish Anne-Marie Rindom in front of her.

Annemiek Bekkering and Annette Duetz got off to a disappointing start in the 49erFX class on Tuesday.

The Dutch duo did not get further than thirteenth place in the first race.

The first race was won by the British Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey.

They kept Spain (second) and the United States (third) behind them.

In the Laser Radial class, the sixth race will follow later on Tuesday.

The 49erFX class will finish the second and third races later on Tuesday.
