Romain Cannone, fencing.

The 24-year-old swordsman won in the final against Hungarian world number one Gergely Siklosin, 15 to 10 touches, after a sensational run where he notably beat the reigning Olympic champion.

Silver

Amandine Buchard, judo.

Number 2 in the world, the Frenchwoman easily climbed to the final of the -52 kg category before losing to the Japanese Ura Abe, her great rival, on immobilization.

Sara-Léonie Cysique, judo.

For her first Olympics, the 23-year-old tricolor lost in the final of the -57 kg category against Kosovar Nora Gjakova after receiving a red card for a dangerous gesture.

Bronze

Luka Mkheidze, judo.

The native Georgian judoka dominated Korean Kim Won-jin in the golden score in the -60 kg small final, and won the first French medal in Tokyo.
