Sarah Sjöström has fought a battle against the clock after her elbow injury to be able to compete at the Olympics.

Tonight (03.30) she swims final in the 100 meter butterfly, a distance she took gold at the Olympics in Rio 2016.

SVT expert Lars Frölander, Olympic gold medalist in Sydney 2000, thinks that the messages that Sjöström delivered in the pool are positive before the final.

- I think we got great answers when she swam the trials at fantastic times, and that she lived up to it in the semifinals and swam well there, he says.

But according to Frölander, she is not the favorite to defend the gold.

- I would like to say that she is an underdog considering her elbow injury and that the preparation she has had has not been optimal.

The other girls may have the favorite, but I still think it looks good before the final, says Lars Frölander.

But the medal chance is still there for Sjöström who had the fourth best time in the semifinals.

- Just a week ago, we did not even know if she would line up in this branch.

It feels like she has a small medal chance, and if she were to win a medal tonight, she would do incredibly well, says Lars Frölander.

"Not lived up to form - yet"

However, the competition is fierce to get there.

- Before the Olympics, I thought it would take almost a world record to take gold.

But now I do not think that the favorite girls have lived up to that form yet.

The Chinese Zhang Yufei has looked good, and there are three or four more who have the capacity to swim for 56 seconds, so we will see who has the best final nerves, says Frölander.

Also in the final is Louise Hansson, who is not mentioned in the medal talk in advance.

- She needs to surpass herself to get down to the times that will be required to take a medal.

But nothing is impossible, says Lars Frölander.
