John Rahm

has tested positive for covid, as confirmed by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), so he will not travel to Tokyo to play a tournament where he started with medal aspirations.

This is the second case for the winner of the US Open, who at the beginning of June already had to leave the Memorial Tournament in tears, after a spectacular third day.

"The positive has been detected by undergoing a third consecutive PCR test, mandatory for all those who have recently been to the United Kingdom," explained the COE in its statement.

Rahm's absence will not be covered by any substitute, given the absence of time, so

Adri Arnaus

will remain as the only Spanish representative in the men's tournament.
