Korean table tennis has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics mixed doubles.



Korea's Lee Sang-soo (Samsung Life Insurance)- Jeon Ji-hee (Posco Energy) group defeated Egypt's Omar Asar-Dina Meshrif in 41 minutes in the mixed doubles round of 16 at the Tokyo Gymnasium in Japan today (24th) 4-1 (9-) 11 11-3 11-5 11-7 11-8).



Table tennis mixed doubles was introduced for the first time at this event, and Korean table tennis is expecting its first medal in the event.



Lee Sang-soo and Jeon Ji-hee will face off tomorrow (25th) with Lin Yun-ju and Cheong Yi-qing (Taiwan) for tickets to the semifinals.



Lee Sang-soo and Jeon Ji-hee's group is on a two-game losing streak with Lin Yun-ju and Cheong I-qing.



In the 2019 World Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Tour Platinum German Open, 0-3 (5-11 4-11 9-11) in the round of 16, and 1-3 in the World Table Tennis (WTT) Star Contenders Final held in March. (12-10 8-11 9-11 6-11).
