He graduated from City Academy..and joins rivals Manchester United for a record amount

Young English international striker Jadon Sancho joined his compatriot Manchester United from German Borussia Dortmund with a contract until 2026 for 85 million euros, the two clubs announced on Friday.

The English club, which made the second most expensive deal in its history after Harry Maguire from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 for 80 million pounds, said that "Manchester United is pleased to announce the signing of Jadon Sancho, subject to obtaining the international permit, to keep him at the club until June 2026. With an option to extend for an additional year.

The 21-year-old is considered one of the most promising strikers in the European continent, and United had previously sought to include him without success, but he has now managed to complete the deal.

Sancho arrived in Dortmund when he was seventeen years old, but "his desire was clear to return to his country and play in the Premier League," according to the CEO of the German club, Hans Joachim-Watzke, adding, "He has always acted in an exemplary manner."

Sancho scored 50 goals with 64 assists in four seasons he spent with Borussia Dortmund, according to United, and this summer he was part of the England squad that reached the European Cup final for the first time in its history before losing to Italy on penalties, which made the black-skinned player And his colleagues Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford, victims of racist abuse as a result of their failure to translate their penalty kicks.

"I will always be grateful to Dortmund for giving me the opportunity to play first-team football, even though I always knew I would be back in England one day," Sancho said in a statement released by United.

He considered that "the opportunity to join Manchester United is a dream come true and I look forward to playing in the English Premier League. They (United) are a young and exciting team, and I know that together we can develop something special to achieve the success that the fans deserve."

"I am looking forward to working with the coach (Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer) and his coaching team to develop my game," he concluded.

Fits best United traditions

Solskjaer said: "Jadon embodies the kind of player I want to bring to the club. He is an attacking player who fits in the best traditions of Manchester United. He will be an important part of my squad for years to come and we look forward to seeing him thrive."

He continued, "His goals and decisive passes speak for themselves, and he will bring tremendous speed, glamor and creativity to the team. Old Trafford (the stadium) will provide him with the platform he needs to unleash his untapped talent and perform at the highest level."

"For a player of his age, Jaydon has achieved a lot and showed the courage to go and prove himself abroad. We are all looking forward to welcoming Jaydon to the team as we prepare for the new campaign," that is, the new season United open on August 14 at home against Leeds United in the stage Premier League first.

Sancho's transfer to the "Red Devils" was settled since the first of this July, after Dortmund confirmed this in a statement saying that he had reached an agreement with United to pay a "fixed transfer fee of 85 million euros."

At the time, United issued a statement confirming, "We have reached an agreement with Dortmund regarding Sancho. The signing is linked to the completion of the contractual terms and the player's undergoing a medical examination, which will take place at the end of Sancho's participation in the current European Cup."

After United refused to pay 100 million pounds to Dortmund last year, the English club has held negotiations with its German counterpart since the end of last season in order to complete the deal.

Dortmund rejected the initial offer of 67 million pounds before United raised it to convince the German club, albeit at a much lower price than what he wanted 12 months ago due to the financial repercussions of the Corona virus pandemic.

Sancho played 137 matches in various competitions for the German team and scored 50 goals.

Sancho's transfer to United is considered one of the most expensive in the "Bundesliga", after Frenchman Osman Dembele moved from Dortmund also to Barcelona in 2017, for 105 million euros, while Kai Havertz moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea last summer for 80 million euros.

Sancho returns to the other pole of Manchester after graduating from City Academy before joining Dortmund in search of a regular position with the first team in 2017.

Sancho ended his career in Dortmund in the best way by leading him to win the German Cup by scoring a double in the final against Leipzig (4 -1).
