While preparations are underway in Tokyo for the official opening ceremony of the 2020 Olympic Games, Russian athletes are already competing for medals in various disciplines. A few hours before the event, a preliminary round in archery took place in Yumenoshima Park, as a result of which the participants determined their seeding number in the playoffs. However, the focus was not on the competition itself, but on the incident with the Russian archer Svetlana Gomboeva, who fainted right in the arena.

The preliminary round in archery began at nine o'clock in the morning Tokyo time, but this did not save the athletes from the extreme heat. During the competition, the temperature significantly exceeded 30 ° C, which made life difficult for the athletes. It was this factor, coupled with excitement, that influenced the performance of 23-year-old Gomboeva. With 630 points, the silver medalist of the Universiade showed only 45th result and lost 50 points to the leader. The best of the Russians was Ksenia Perova (664), who took eighth place. She is still worried about headaches, she needs rest and sleep.
