Chef de mission Pieter van den Hoogenband is not worried after three corona infections within the Dutch Olympic team in Tokyo.

After Wednesday skateboarder Candy Jacobs, taekwondoka Reshmie Oogink and a staff member of the rowing team tested positive on Thursday.

"We really have it under control", said Van den Hoogenband at a press moment of NOC*NSF a day before the opening of the Games.

"I don't detect any panic or enormous stress within the team either."

"This is a scenario that we had already taken into account," continued Van den Hoogenband.

"Of course we prefer not to have this. But we are also prepared for this."

According to the chef de mission, tightening up the measures in the Olympic village is not necessary.

"Everyone knows very well what the playbook looks like and what the measures are. Of course we try to comply with them perfectly. But we already did that before."
