In the aftermath of the spread of Corona 19, it was predicted that no more than 20 top-level figures from each country will attend the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics.

Kyodo News reported today (21st) that the Japanese government has set the number of top-level personnel to attend the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics to less than 20, less than the 30 expected until last week.

A Japanese government official said that the recent global spread of the mutant virus has led to the suspension of plans for visits by top officials from various countries.

So far, the only top-level figures who have expressed their intention to visit Japan in the wake of the Tokyo Olympics are Mongolian Prime Minister Oh Yun-Elden, with the exception of French President Emmanuel Macron ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

It is reported that Emperor Naruhito will invite top foreign officials to the Gyuden in the Imperial Palace before the opening ceremony on the 23rd.
