The Brazilian police arrested most of the players of the Argentine Boca Juniors team, after the team was eliminated from the Copa Libertadores football championship, after losing to Atletico Mineiro, in Brazil.

The Brazilian "Globo Esporte" website said that 8 of the Argentine delegation were taken to the police station in Belo Horizonte, before they were later released.

Chaos in Brazil as Boca Juniors were knocked out of the Copa Libertadores by a VAR decision and all hell broke loose after the game..

And footage spread through social media of sharp altercations in the stadium tunnel with the police, who used pepper spray to prevent the Argentine players from reaching the changing room of the Atletico Mineiro team, where the Uruguayan referee Esteban Ostojic was hiding there for fear of the oppression of the Boca Juniors players.

And the Spanish newspaper "MARCA" reported that Sergio Coelho, president of Atletico Mineiro, was seen throwing a bottle at Boca Juniors players.

The scene got worse when Boca Juniors' Marcos Rojo carried a fire extinguisher to defend himself.

Atlético Mineiro won the match on penalties, after the end of the two-legged tie, but Boca Juniors players expressed their anger at not calculating two goals for the team in Brazil, after the referee decided to cancel them after using the video assistant referee (VAR) technology.

Boca Juniors were furious after having goals disallowed by VAR in both legs of their Copa Libertadores tie against Atletico Mineiro.
