UAE athletes continue training in preparation for the start of the Olympics

Saif Bin Fetais, the national team shooter, continued his preparations to participate in the skeet shooting competition on the 25th and 26th of this month as part of the Olympic Games, which will be held in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, and begin the day after tomorrow, and conclude on August 8, with the participation of 11,000 athletes from 206 countries competing in 33 Sports by 339 competitions in 42 sports facilities.

Our national judo pair, Victor Sktov and Ivan Romanko, also continued their preparations for the under-73kg and over-100kg competitions, respectively, where the training witnessed great seriousness and focus on raising physical and mental efficiency and speed of reaction as one of the most important factors in judo.

Abdullah Al Rahoumi, doctor of the UAE delegation participating in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, stressed that the safety of the athletes and their health monitoring is among the most important priorities of the entire delegation, which expressed its full cooperation to achieve the desired level of medical care before or during the competition period, and to be present in all sites that will witness the training and competition venues to provide All matters necessary for athletes related to the health aspect.

Al Rahoumi indicated that his mission with the sports delegation in Tokyo is represented in two main aspects, the first is to follow up the health status of the athletes and the entire delegation and to prepare for any developments that may occur on the athletes’ participation, and the second includes coordination and follow-up regarding safety procedures and precautionary matters set by the organizing committee for the games, with an emphasis on How to collect periodic samples for Covid-19 examination and the mechanism for delivering them to those concerned in this regard.

Al Rahoumi added that periodic reports will be prepared for the entire UAE delegation, whether the athletes or the administrative and media work teams accompanying the delegation in order to review the results of the samples, count the number of people in contact and implement the steps taken by the organizing committee in the event of positive cases, stressing that all these matters require cooperation and understanding. From everyone, which was confirmed by the delegation’s management from the first day in the Olympic Village, in a manner that serves the interests of everyone and reflects the civilized image of the UAE in major sports forums and its effective role in making events a success through the commitment of its delegation and its athletes.
