Ski alpinism is on the rise and on Tuesday it was clear that the competition form will get Olympic status just in time for the Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo 2026.

- It will be very exciting to see how it turns out and in Italy ski alpinism is really huge so it is really the best place to debut, says Tove Alexandersson.

She was singled out as a big medal jumper by the Swedish national team captain Remi Francais, who hopes to bring the star to Italy.

- She has a lot of World Cup gold, but an Olympic medal is something else.

I'm sure it can be a big motivating factor, he says.

"It is possible that I will bet on an Olympics"

But almost five years remain and the 28-year-old, who is also the world's best orienteer on the women's side, says that she herself has never been tempted to participate in an Olympics.

- The Olympics are something else, but I have never been so super focused on the Olympics.

Had I been, I would probably have chosen to invest in another sport.

I have chosen the sports I think are the most fun, most motivating and inspiring.

It has never been the case that the Olympics have weighed over the sport itself.

Then it's cool that it is now one of the branches that has become an Olympic branch, she says.

TT: Could an Olympic venture serve as motivation for you?

- It is difficult for me to say now, five years is too far ahead for me.

I'm focused on what's happening now and next year.

I have a lot of motivation just for what is coming now for the winter and next summer in the orientation, she says and continues:

- But in four years, maybe I can feel super much motivation because it is an Olympics.

Right now I think it's great fun with ski alpinism and I see no reason to stop investing in it.

Time goes pretty fast so it is very possible that I will bet on an Olympics.
