- Maybe seventy, Fredrik Jönsson answers when he is asked how many showjumpers he has tested since he lost his championship horse Cold Play in March.

Is that so?

- Yes, sixty-seventy pieces.

Normally maybe I had test driven five.

And how many of these can become something?

- There are many nice horses and I am grateful that I got to try them all, but if I am crass ... maybe four, he says with a crooked smile.

But it is because they have given me a certain feeling, he continues.

There are many details that must fall into place when looking for a horse that will be able to handle the very highest classes.

It should not only be a really good horse, it should also suit the rider and its system.

You need capital and if you do not have the finances yourself, one or more owners may be involved, which means that riders and owners should agree on a good plan for the future.

Fredrik Jönsson wants to keep the horses for a long time, he says.

Jönsson on the loss of Cold Play

Want to return to the same level

Together with Cold Play, Fredrik Jönsson participated and took a team silver in the WC 2018 and they became the best Swedish crew individually.

The plan was for the duo to take part in the Olympics in Tokyo, but that dream came true.

The successes have made Jönsson want to return to the same high level.

Of course, this affects applicants and he admits that he felt a certain amount of stress in the beginning.

When SVT Sport is visiting, he has one of the four horses on trial.

Conrad is 9 years old, who turns out to have a fairly strong escape behavior, but that is something that Fredrik Jönsson seems to like.

- It is based on caution and you benefit from it when you jump, he explains.

- It is afraid of quite a lot, but it can jump big obstacles.

I've seen that.

If you are going to skip big competitions, there will be big obstacles and that is what it is completely unprepared for.

I just have to make him jump a little better, says Jönsson when he sits up on the horse.

The day after our visit, there will be an SMS.

Fredrik Jönsson announces that Conrad will stay with him.

With this, the next phase of the journey now begins to try to get back and fight for the championship places again.
