World Championship leader Max Verstappen has left the hospital after his Formula 1 collision with Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone.

“Was discharged from the hospital after all tests were okay.

Thank you everyone for all the nice news and best wishes, ”tweeted the Dutchman late on Sunday.

He also put a picture of himself and his father Jos Verstappen.

A few hours earlier, the Red Bull driver from the hospital had already spoken out and expressed sharp criticism of Hamilton.

“I'm glad I'm fine.

I am very disappointed that I was taken out like that, ”he wrote on social media after his early retirement at the British Grand Prix.

“The given penalty doesn't help us any further and doesn't do justice to the dangerous move Lewis made on the track.

Watching the festivities while in the hospital is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behavior, but we keep going, ”he added.

The Red Bull driver was referring to the exuberant cheering scenes.

Hamilton had his first win in ten weeks at the home race and thus preserved his chances in the world championship fight.

Verstappen and Hamilton had already touched their wheels after one lap in a duel in the Copse corner.

The world championship leader lost control and crashed his car into a pile of tires with great force.

Hamilton was given a ten-second penalty for the maneuver and still later won the Grand Prix.

The Briton shortened his World Cup deficit to eight points.

Verstappen was visibly battered after the accident and, as a precaution, was taken to a nearby hospital for further examinations.

"There is always the possibility of a concussion, so we always keep that in mind," said Formula 1 medical emergency team chief Ian Roberts.

Verstappen hit the tire wall with a force of 51 G, as his team boss Christian Horner said.
