Yoo Seung-min, a member of the IOC Athlete Commission, has been diagnosed with COVID-19 while entering Japan.

This is the first confirmed case as an IOC member.

Yoo Seung-min said on his social media that he was confirmed yesterday (17th) afternoon at Narita Airport.

He said he was negative in the pre-departure test, and was vaccinated twice, but it came out positive.

Yoo, who became the first member of the IOC to be diagnosed with the virus, was quarantined for more than ten days, making it impossible to attend the opening ceremony, which also disrupted the plan to encourage athletes.
