Naomi Osaka announced before the grand slam tournament in Paris that she did not intend to attend the press conferences after her matches - and so it was.

The Japanese star occasionally said that the meetings with the press had a negative effect on her health.

Rebecca Peterson does not experience the same thing about media meetings.

- I myself have not felt that I have been close to what she expresses herself about.

But you have to respect what she feels, everyone has their way to go, she says during a press conference today.

The 25-year-old points out that the media is of great importance to the sport.

- I think it is important, because that is what makes us athletes visible and get the attention needed for the sport to be able to go around.

But again, we all deal with it differently and it should be respected.

Had a tough year with setbacks

Peterson is now looking forward to the coming weeks.

- The Olympics are the biggest we have in sports so it is an incredible experience.

The Swedish one had back problems after the competition in Båstad.

However, the injury should not cause problems at the Olympics.

- I had a bit tough at the beginning of the year with a bit of a setback, but with these last few months and especially the last few weeks, I have definitely felt that I was able to push with the training and get more training hours and matches.

Had to sign an agreement on death

One topic of discussion around the Olympics has been whether the hot climate in Japan will affect the athletes.

Peterson admits that she, like other tennis players at the Olympics, had to sign a contract that emphasizes that she is aware that she may die due to covid-19 or the heat out on the tennis court.

But she's not worried.

- This heat is not something out of the ordinary, I have been in these conditions before as well.
