The final of the Champions League, originally for 2022, then postponed by a year, will not take place in Munich in 2023 either.

Now it is only planned for 2025.

The Executive Committee of the European Football Union decided on this two-year postponement on Friday, as announced by UEFA.

The final in two years' time will be played in Istanbul.

Due to the corona pandemic, the Turkish metropolis did not come into play as planned, either in 2020 or this year.

The Champions League winners FC Bayern Munich and FC Chelsea were crowned in Lisbon and Porto, respectively.

In Istanbul this year and next, the group phases for the European club competitions are to be drawn at the end of August each year.

The next Champions League final will take place on May 28, 2022 in St. Petersburg.

While Istanbul will replace Munich in 2023, the 2024 final is still scheduled at London's Wembley Stadium.

Then it is Munich's turn, where FC Bayern lost to Chelsea in the final in 2012 at home.

Originally, the final in the Bavarian capital was supposed to take place in 2022.

After Dublin and Bilbao were not the intended venues for the past European Football Championship, the final of the Europa League is to take place in the Irish capital in 2024. Bilbao is to host the final in 2025, and the women's Champions League final is to be held there in 2024.
