During the last years in Bayern Munich, eleven seasons and eight league titles, Robben had increasingly difficult injuries to heal.

He left the club two years ago and wanted to end his career at the childhood club Groningen in recent years, but there were only six matches and no goals scored for the 37-year-old last season.

He has been thinking about his future in recent weeks and has come to the conclusion that the body does not like elite games.

He also quit football for the first time after the end in Bayern Munich and stated the same motive as today.

"I am a supporter today"

- That's how it looks today.

I am no longer a player but a supporter of FC (Groningen), he writes to the fans.

He made his A-team debut in Groningen as a 16-year-old in 2000 and played his last competitive match in May this year.

He played 96 international matches with the Netherlands and the biggest success was the World Cup silver in 2010 (fell in the final in South Africa against Spain)

Three Swedes have competed with Robben in Groningen: Gabriel Gudmundsson, Ramon Pascal Lundqvist and Paulos Abraham.
