The announcement of the European Football Association "UEFA", for the ideal squad for the best 11 players in the European Championship (Euro 2020), sparked widespread controversy on social media.

The squad announced by the official account of the Euro Championship on Twitter on Tuesday included the Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Italian defense Leonardo Bonucci and Leonardo Spinazola, in addition to the English defenders Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire.

The midfield consisted of 3 players, the Danish Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, the Italian Jorginho and the Spaniard Pedri, while the attacking line included the Belgian Romelu Lukaku, the Englishman Raheem Sterling, and the Italian Federico Chiesa.

Activists criticized the ideal squad for the euro after it was devoid of the tournament's top scorer with 5 goals, Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and Czech Patrick Szek, wondering about the entitlement of the other strikers who did not reach the numbers of the strikers in the continental championship.

How is Lukaku in this?

Don't get me wrong, he had a great tournament but what about Patrick Schick or Cristiano Ronaldo?💁‍♀️#EURO2020 https://t.co/58rR8Brscb

Criticism of the fans was not limited to the offensive line. Some expressed their surprise at the absence of a player like Luke Shaw, the Englishman, despite his excellent performance throughout the tournament, while others criticized the presence of a player like Spinazzola, who did not play the last two matches with Italy.

Some of the tweeters suggested the lineup that they saw as the best from their point of view, while others replaced the names of some players with new names that they believed were more deserving of being in the ideal squad.

We are delighted to see you in the #EURO2020 ideal XI @Pedri – Congratulations!

The stuff you're smoking at @UEFA must be pretty hardcore as there is no @Cristiano or Patrick Schick.

Really one of the top scorers couldn't make it to Team of Tournament?

#EURO2020 No offense to both of the finalists!

Spinazzola was great but can we put some respect on Luke Shaw's name?!

He's in the form of his life!
