The Syrian national team will host its World Cup qualifiers in Jordan

Today, the Syrian Football Association announced the selection of Jordan's stadiums as a hypothetical ground for it to play its home matches in the decisive third round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup. The Syrian Arab Football Federation with its Jordanian counterpart, and in view of the acceptance and welcome that our team received from the brothers in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, it was decided that the Qweismeh Stadium in Jordan will be the home of our national team during the decisive round of the World Cup qualifiers.

The Syrian Federation had signed Mahrous last Saturday to succeed Tunisian coach Nabil Maaloul.

It is noteworthy that the International and Asian Federations banned Syria from hosting any official activity in the continental and international tournaments due to the security conditions that the country was experiencing for about ten years.

Syria was drawn into Group A in the decisive third round of qualifying for the World Cup, along with Iran, South Korea, Iraq, UAE and Lebanon.
