Conor McGregor lost the heated return match against American Dustin Poirier in Las Vegas after breaking his shin in the closing seconds of round one.

The Irishman has now lost three of his last four matches in the octagon and many are now thinking about what the superstar should do to speed up his career again.

Michael Bisping, former UFC middleweight champion with 24 UFC appearances on the merit list, believes McGregor must fire John Kavanagh, who has been his head coach throughout his career.

The reason?

Kavanagh said in an interview after McGregor's loss that he thought the match went "fantastically well" and that he "was not at all worried, on the contrary, I was very, very happy".

"It is very worrying"

In fact, two out of three ring judges considered that Poirier won the round by 10-8, that is, superior, compared to 10-9 which is normal.

- If it is true that John Kavanagh saw the match in that way, Conor should fire him immediately.

It is very worrying.

Your guy was lying on the ground and was dominated.

It was a 10-8 round for Dustin.

Conor was simply beaten, says Michael Bisping and continues:

- The broken leg is very unfortunate, but it also gives McGregor an excuse, because considering what the match looked like, it did not feel at all likely that Conor would turn it around.

Round one is usually Conor's best, but it was no further achievement.

The prognosis: Six weeks on crutches

McGregor himself has published a short clip on social media where he explains that he has had surgery on his injured leg.

- The operation went according to plan and I feel fantastic.

Now six weeks are waiting for crutches and then we start the reconstruction, says the 33-year-old.

In the interview that was done in the cage immediately after the end of the match, the Irishman claimed that he was winning the match and "boxed the skull of Poirier".

He also expressed that he wants a return match with Poirier, whose next match will be a lightweight title match against champion Charles Oliveira.
