Since the end of the Euro 2020 final against Italy, the case has grown.

After consecutive failed attempts by Rashford, Sancho and Saka in the penalty shootout, hateful and racist comments have flourished against them on social media.

Yesterday, the reactions were numerous in support, from Prince William "sick" to the public outrage of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

In Manchester, a fresco depicting Marcus Rashford, painted when he opposed the British government to maintain food aid for children from low-income households in the midst of a pandemic, has been degraded and covered with insults.

Since then, black tarpaulins have come to hide the hateful slogans, themselves covered with many messages of support.

The mural in honor of Marcus Rashford has been degraded following England's loss on Sunday night.

The Mancunian attacker reacted on his social networks through a long text.

He first apologized for missing his shot on goal, rehashing the defeat:

“A penalty was the only contribution to the team that I was asked to make.

I can score even while sleeping, so why not this one? He asked.

I can't stop thinking about it since I hit the ball and there probably isn't a word to describe how I feel.

(…) All I can say is I'm sorry.

I would have liked it to have gone differently, ”continued the Manchester United star.

"You can criticize my performance all day, my penalty was not good enough, it should have come in, but I will never apologize for being who I am", also launched the player in reaction to the insults.

“I am Marcus Rashford, a 23 year old black man from Withington and Wythenshawe in south Manchester.

If I have nothing else, I have this.
