It was discovered that a man in his 40s who was involved in the operation of the Tokyo Olympics Holy Fire Relay held in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture on the 6th of this month was infected with the new coronavirus.

The infection was confirmed by a male staff member in his 40s who was in charge of car intrusion countermeasures at the torch relay held in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture on the 6th of this month.



According to the Games Organizing Committee, the man became ill on the 8th of this month, two days after joining the torch relay.



At the torch relay in Saitama Prefecture, it has been revealed that three people have been infected, including the staff of the outsourced organization of the Organizing Committee, which was driving the torch runner's shuttle bus.



This brings the number of people involved in the torch relay, which began in March, to be confirmed to be 17 people.



The Organizing Committee says, "We will work with related organizations to prevent the spread of infection and take necessary measures to implement a safe and secure torch relay."
