The General Assembly of the Athletics Federation approved the new formation of the Federation’s Board of Directors at its meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai yesterday, after closing the door for candidacy for the elections with the required number of candidates, to fill the seats for the new session 2020-2024, as the Khorfakkan Club candidate, Muhammad Abdullah Al-Murr, was elected as president to the Board of Directors.
The voting phase for the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors witnessed that Muhammad Abdullah Al-Murr received 10 votes in the first round, while Muhammad bin Humaidan received seven votes, and Khalifa Salem Al-Shamsi received four votes, to exclude Al-Shamsi, and re-vote for the position of president, as Muhammad Al-Murr received 11 votes, in exchange for Bin Humaidan receiving 10 votes, so that the Khorfakkan candidate was elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
As for the members of the Board of Directors, six members were elected: Suhail Al Kaabi (Maleha), Fahd Abdullah (Al Rams), Ali Ghazwan (Hatta), Faisal Al Khamiri (Masfout), Adel Darwish (Al Wasl), and Nasser Ashour (Sharjah). While Ahlam Hassan Salem of Al Hamriya Club was recommended, the only candidate for the women's category, and Rashid Nasser Al Ali of Al Arabi Club, the only candidate for the new youth category.
The quorum for the General Assembly was completed yesterday, with the attendance of 21 clubs who are members of the General Assembly, which are: Shabab Al Ahly, Al Wasl, Al Nasr, Al Ain, Dibba Al Hisn, Fujairah, Al Jazira Al Hamra, Emirates, Al Rams, Al Hamriya, Hatta, Falaj Al Mualla, Maliha, Al Dhaid Al Arabi, Sharjah, Khor Fakkan, Masafi, Masfout, Al Dhafra, and Al Bataeh.
The new board of directors of the Athletics Federation witnessed a complete change of all members of the previous board, in light of the suspension of all members of the previous board until 2028, according to the instructions of the new statute.
