Tour de France: Mollema wins the 14th stage, Pogacar remains leader ahead of Martin

Solo, the Dutchman Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo) won on the 14th stage of the Tour de France on Saturday in Aude.

Not worried, the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) retains the yellow jersey, while the French Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) climbs back to second place in the general classification.

This mid-mountain stage between Carcassonne and Quillan saw Bauke Mollema winner for the second time in his career on the Tour de France, four years after the one won at Puy-en-Velay.

The 34-year-old climber made the difference 42 kilometers from the finish line.

Present in a breakaway, he accelerated and put down his competitors.

Austrian Patrick Konrad took second, and Colombian Sergio Higuita took third.

Tadej Pogacar, he spent a quiet day.

None of his direct competitors attacked him in this stage which opens the passage of the Grande Boucle in the Pyrenees.

The Slovenian, in management, retained his yellow jersey and his lead of more than five minutes over his main rivals.

The winner of the Tour de France 2020 has a new runner-up in the person of Guillaume Martin.

The Frenchman, ninth in the general classification before this stage, settled in the breakaway.

Arriving eleventh at 1'28 behind Mollema, Martin thus climbs back to second place in the general classification, ahead of the Colombian Rigoberto Uran (at 1 (14) and 4'04 behind Tadej Pogacar.
