Mourinho refuses to make promises to Roma and his fans

The new Portuguese coach for Italian club Roma, Jose Mourinho, confirmed that his main goal is to build a strong team in the long term, noting that "the titles will come later."

Mourinho refrained from making any kind of promises to Roma and its fans, and said during his presentation to the media today: "You talk about titles, and we talk about time, project, work. Titles are just words, easy promises. Titles will come, but the club does not want successes. Isolated, he wants to get somewhere and stay there."

Mourinho had previously had a successful experience in Italy at the helm of the technical staff of Inter and led him to achieve a rare triple (the domestic league and cup and the Champions League in 2010).

Mourinho was hired, coach of Porto, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham, as Roma coach on May 4, on a three-year contract, to replace his compatriot Paulo Fonseca.

Roma finished seventh in the Italian league last season, but Mourinho promised to improve his position, saying, "We want to build something that will last a long time. I have developed a lot in recent years and I say this because I am sure that the accumulation of experience is very useful in this profession."

On the other hand, Roma general manager Thiago Pinto confirmed, "We have studied the team's needs and we will have a team worthy of Mourinho."
