Emissions The EC investigates VW, Daimler and BMW for a possible cartel
The European Commission announced on Thursday a total fine of 875 million euros (more than 1 billion dollars) to the German auto giants BMW and Volkswagen for a pact to circumvent free competition rules
on emissions reduction.
In an official note, the European Commissioner for Competition, Margrethe Vestager, pointed out that the two companies "violated the anti-competition rules of the EU."
Another German automobile giant,
Daimler
, which also participated in this pact but revealed its existence, was found guilty but was not punished.
