End of the suspense.

The Tokyo Olympics, which will take place from July 23 to August 8, will take place without an audience.

There will be "no spectators" in the various sites of the event, announced Thursday the Minister of the Olympics Tamayo Marukawa.

The upsurge in Covid cases led the authorities to take this drastic measure.

This announcement comes a few hours after the decision of the Japanese government to reinstate a state of health emergency in Tokyo from Monday until August 22, a device which will thus encompass the entire period of the Olympics.

Already postponed last year due to a health crisis, these Games continue to be a headache for the organizers.
