The Mont Ventoux is a myth of the Tour de France.

This long ascent of nearly 21 km burnt by the sun with slopes averaging 7.5% has already been taken 16 times by the Grande Boucle.

Tuesday July 6, the Giant of Provence will be climbed twice by the peloton.

The day before, however, it is a group of 11 brave and courageous who will brave this slope for a good cause.

Eleven victims of terrorism from all over the world will climb Mont Ventoux together under the aegis of de V-Europe and the French Association of Victims of Terrorism (AfVT).

"In these fifth commemorations of the Paris / St Denis, Brussels & Nice attacks and the 20th of the September 11 attacks in the USA, victims of terrorism will climb Mont-Ventoux on July 6 to show the way to resilience and appeal to the generosity of the public ", explains Guillaume Denoix de Saint Marc in a press release.

Founding President of the AfVT, who will himself be one of the 11 climbers.

He will be accompanied by Adrien and Anaële Abescat, a brother and sister victim of an attack in 2007 in Saudi Arabia, Julien and Caroline Altounian, victims of a terrorist attack in Cairo in 2009, Mark and Vera De Boeck, who suffered the Ramblas attack in Barcelona in 2017, Aristide and Marion Melissas, overthrown by a terrorist in New York in 2017, Karen Northshield and Philippe Vanderberghe, present during the Brussels attacks in 2016.

The next day, the 11th stage will be dedicated to the Association and the professional peloton will wear the colors of the Association in order to raise funds.
