The South American Football Association (CONMEBOL) announced yesterday that the Brazilian striker, Gabriel Jesus, will miss the Copa America final against Argentina, due to a two-match ban, after he was sent off in the match against Chile in the quarter-finals.

The Manchester City striker was expelled on Friday, due to a strong interference on the Chilean Eugenio Mina, and despite the numerical shortage, his country, the defending champion, won 1-0 and reached the final.

Jesus missed the semi-final match against Peru, the last runner-up, on Monday, which Brazil also won 1-0.

Jesus was a Yemeni himself by returning to the ranks of his country to play the Grand Final against traditional rivals Argentina at the Maracana Stadium, but the disciplinary committee punished him with a two-match ban.

Jesus had scored the second goal for Brazil in the final of the last edition in 2019 against Peru (3-1), but he was sent off 20 minutes before the end of normal time.
