Instead of the usual with either one or two host nations, eleven nations - nine of them European Championship-qualified - have shared the hosting of this year's European Football Championship.

Apart from Scotland, Hungary and Russia, the rest have had at least three home matches in the group and finals.

And of the four national teams that have now advanced to the semifinals, all are organizers.

Italy played its group matches at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Spain at La Cartuja in Seville and Denmark at the Park.

And England's matches in the group stage and the round of 16 were decided at Wembley.

- It clearly shows the strong advantage of the home team where we let in an audience for the first time in a year and a half.

Especially in a championship like this where travel is a very important part - logistics, new environments and avoiding night flights, says SVT Sports expert Jonas Eriksson.

"Do not play like this again"

Eriksson believes that the setup for the championship should have been stopped.

- The thought that Michel Platini (former Uefa president) had in 2012, which certainly came on a wet night when you came up with some fun and crazy ideas, someone should have slowed down.

There have been a lot of problems around climate discussions, the pandemic has affected and not least the sporting disadvantage that affects teams that have not been given a home ground.

It is clear that we will not play the European Championships like this again.

How do you see Uefa, despite the pandemic, maintaining its organizer strategy for the championship?

- Uefa has a tendency not to have the ear along the rails and understand and feel what is happening.

But in projects like this, they have decided well and it takes time to come up with a new solution.

There was talk of putting it in a country, but they wanted to move on with the idea they had.

With the results in hand, it is obvious that they would have done in some other way.

"Legal"

Expert colleague Daniel Nannskog also believes that the advantage has been great for the organizers.

- It's a bit annoying and it's not entirely fair, I must say.

I do not know if I am super conservative and like what has been.

It can be shared between two countries, if one is not able to handle it yourself.

But I would like to see it in a country and that there will be a party there, says SVT Sports expert.
