Haiti goalkeeper Josue Duvergert recently grabbed the spotlight after a huge blunder he made against Canada in the North American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup Qatar, after he made a mistake in controlling the ball and slipping into his net in a funny shot that swept social networking sites.

A report published by the British newspaper "Daily Mail" said that Duverger was not the first goalkeeper to make a fatal mistake in matches in the most important international football competitions, as the World Cup, the Champions League and the most powerful domestic leagues witnessed a number of fatal goalkeeper mistakes that were not erased by Football lovers memory.

Shay Given: Coventry City - Newcastle (Premier League, 1997)

Former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given's career with Newcastle United continued for 12 years, during which he presented the best levels.

But during his first season with the club, Given made one of the biggest mistakes in the history of the Premier League due to a lack of focus.

When he was about to pass the ball, Coventry City star Dion Dublin was standing behind him, but he didn't notice his presence and put the ball to the ground.

Dublin rushed to the ball, which was somewhat far from Given, and grabbed it and then shot it towards the goal to score his famous goal in 1997.

Scott Carson: England v Croatia (European Championship 2008 qualifiers, November 2007)

That match will not be forgotten by the English fans because Croatia denied its host England the qualification for the 2008 European Championship at Wembley because of a fatal mistake by goalkeeper Scott Carson.

Carson failed to catch Nico Cranchiar's shot, which hit the floor before jumping in front of him and into the net.

Rene Higuita: Colombia-Cameroon (World Cup Round of 16, June 1990)

Colombian Rene Higuita was known as a goalkeeper out of the ordinary, especially after the crazy scorpion kick in a friendly match against England in 1995, but Higuita committed an unforgivable mistake during the last 16 match in the World Cup Italy 1990 finals against Cameroon.

The reckless goalkeeper, known for his strange moves, tried to dribble veteran Cameroonian striker Roger Milla outside the penalty area, but Milla managed to grab the ball and scored a historic goal in the empty net.

Massimo Taipei: Manchester United - Southampton (Premier League, September 1999)

Italian Massimo Taipei played only 4 matches for Manchester United, including a match against Chelsea, in which he conceded 5 full goals, and another two goals against Liverpool, which ended 3-2 for United.

But the most famous shot was in the match against Southampton, where United were leading 2-1 when Matt Le Tissier hit a ball that looked so easy but Taipei mishandled it to pass into his arms and then under his feet and into the net.

Fabian Barthez: Arsenal-Manchester United (Premier League, November 2001)

There is no doubt that the French goalkeeper has a wonderful career, especially as he won the World Cup in 1998 and the European Championship 2000 with his country, but his time with Manchester United was not one of his best footballing stations.

In the English Premier League match against Arsenal in 2001, Barthez committed two fatal errors that enabled his compatriot Thierry Henry to score two goals without any trouble.

The first was from a wrong pass towards Henry, who shot directly into the empty net, and the second when he caught the ball and then let it go to prepare for the Arsenal striker, who did not find any difficulty in scoring.

Rob Green: England-USA (World Cup first round, June 2010)

England's first match in the 2010 World Cup was going well until former Fulham and Tottenham striker Clint Dempsey hit a ball from outside the penalty area with his left foot controlled by Rob Green, but somehow the ball slipped from his grip and into the net, to lead England to a disappointing equalizer and then exit From the first round of the tournament.

Jordan Pickford: Liverpool-Everton (Premier League, December 2018).

The match between Liverpool and Everton was heading towards a draw, and in overtime Virgil van Dijk hit a high ball that looked on its way out of the field.

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford misjudged her trajectory and could not control it when it fell towards goal, setting up a setting against Belgian striker Divock Origi, who had no trouble finding the winning goal.

Peter Engelman: Birmingham - Aston Villa (Premier League, September 2002)

Swede Olof Melberg, Aston Villa defender, got a throw-in close to his team's goal, and chose to pass it to his goalkeeper Peter Engelmann, but the Finn could not control it and passed under his foot and then settled in the net.

The Laws of the Game state that goals cannot be scored directly from a throw-in, but referee David Elleray saw that Engelman had touched the ball and awarded the goal.

Josue Duverger: Haiti-Canada (World Cup qualifiers, June 2021)

Among the goalkeepers' most bizarre mistakes were those that occurred a few days ago, when Haitian defender Kevin LaFrance passed an easy ball to his goalkeeper from outside the penalty area, but Duvergert was unable to control it and passed between his feet as Canada opened the result effortlessly.

Loris Karius: Real Madrid-Liverpool (UEFA Champions League Final, May 2018)

It was a night full of tears for Loris Karius in the most important game of European club football, for his two mistakes in the Ukrainian capital Kiev.

The match was tied at the start of the second half, when Karius mishandled the ball, hitting Benzema and entering the net.

A few minutes before the end, Gareth Bale hit a ball from a distance that seemed to be within the reach of the German goalkeeper, but he slipped it strangely from his hands to add Real Madrid his third goal and achieve the title.

Since then, Karius has played on loan at Besiktas and Union Berlin, and it seems he needs a miracle for fans to forget his missteps in Kiev.
