The first basketball team in Sharjah Sports Club inaugurated yesterday, on its club hall, the stages of preparation for the new season 2021-2022, through which the "King" aspired to continue to reap local and foreign achievements.
Sharjah Basketball coach Abdul Hamid Ibrahim told "Emirates Today": "The first stage of preparation will extend for six weeks, during which work will focus on the physical side, before entering a future stage of friendly experiences, in preparation for the new season."
He explained: “Since the season ended last April, the players have undergone a self-training phase, while allowing them to participate in refresher tournaments at the state level, ensuring that they maintain the minimum level of physical fitness and technical skill, before they organize in July this year in The first stages of actual preparation, in which work will focus mainly on the physical aspect, and determine the appropriate training loads for the players.
He added, "The first phase follows, with friendly experiences, through which we look forward to providing the homogeneity factor, especially with the completion of contracts with professional players, which provides a parallel course in the preparation stages, whether physical or technical."
He added, "We look forward to the beginning of September to reach the required readiness, before entering the final preparation stages, during which the focus will be on the eligibility for external participation, and the competition for the titles of the 33rd edition of the Arab Champions Clubs Championship, held in Egypt at the beginning of October, and through which we seek to add The second title for the (King) basket in the championship records, after the completion of 2011.”
He concluded: "The Sharjah Basketball Team presented distinguished levels last season, and succeeded in winning a first historic title in the Vice President's Cup competition, which came as a complement to winning the President's Cup, and runners-up in the League Championship. In the new season 2021-2022, we look forward to Defending the titles that have been achieved, and seeking to regain the league title, in a task that will not be easy, requiring a lot of effort and work in moving forward in parallel in the stages of preparation for the domestic and foreign benefits.”
