The orienteering WC in Doksy, Czech Republic, begins on Saturday.

It is a championship that is special in several respects that is on the doorstep.

On the one hand, the pandemic has limited the number of international competitions in the past year.

On the one hand, it is an extremely intense week that awaits as the sprint has also taken place on the WC program.

This means five different distances within the course of seven days.

In addition, the qualifiers in the individual sprint as well as the middle distance are decided on the same day as the respective finals.

All in all, there will be seven races in as many days.

A tough challenge.

Not least for Tove Alexandersson.

"Tendency to get worn out"

- I think it's difficult.

I have a tendency to get tired when I am in good shape and notice that I do my best, so I think it's tough to run so many races in a week when you really have to do maximum performance all the time, she says and continues :

- I hope that I will be able to recover so that I feel in good shape in all the races I run.

Alexandersson will at least compete in all individual races - Saturday's sprint, Tuesday's middle distance and Friday's long distance.

Whether it will be relevant with relays, and if so how many, remains to be seen.

Can stand over the relays

Have you considered standing over a few races to be able to retain energy?

- Yeah absolutely.

We will see how it goes with the relays and what is best for the whole team and for me.

The form is top notch - at least in the sprint.

In last month's European Championships in Neuchatel, Switzerland, she took gold in both knockout sprints and sprints.

- I think it feels good.

It definitely feels like I'm in the best shape I've been this year anyway.

It promises good.

The gold was her fifth and sixth in the European Championship context, where there were a total of nine medals.

In the World Cup, the harvest is even greater.

Since her World Cup debut in 2011, she has collected 21 medals, of which ten gold.

"Always something new waiting"

How does she then find the motivation even though she has already won pretty much everything that can be won?

- What I especially think is fun with the orienteering is that there is always something new waiting - that the championships differ so much from each other with different terrain types, says Tove Alexandersson and continues:

- Even if I have been good in a certain type of terrain, there will always be something new and then it is important to be good in that particular type of terrain.

There, perhaps other people have better conditions so there are always new challenges and new things to get good at.
