She could not stand the pressure any longer and ended up going to the Landerneau gendarmerie. Become famous for its sign "Go Opi Omi" which caused a huge fall during the first stage of the Tour de France, the spectator was still in police custody on Thursday. “A decision will be taken at the end of his custody. It will be proportionate to the gravity of the facts ”, indicated the public prosecutor of Brest Camille Mansioni. Without a criminal record, the mis en cause would have been identified through exchanges of messages recorded in the context of a related legal procedure.

The incident occurred during the first stage of the Tour de France between Brest and Landerneau on Saturday June 26.

While the peloton was launched at good speed less than 50 kilometers from the finish, a major fall had sent a large number of riders to the ground.

On the side of the road, the runner Tony Martin had struck the cardboard sign of this woman, who had her back to the race, in order to be shown on television.

Thursday, organizer Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) withdrew its complaint against this 30-year-old spectator from northern Finistère.

The Spanish rider Marc Soler, who had to retire, could file a complaint.

A message for his grandparents, fans of the Tour

The sign "Go Opi Omi", which means "go grandpa grandma" in German, was addressed to her grandparents, her grandmother being of Germanic origin.

"She was trying to send an affectionate message to her grandparents, who are unconditional viewers of the Tour de France", explains the prosecutor, before adding.

“She has a feeling of shame, of fear also in the face of the media coverage of the affair.

She seems overwhelmed by what she calls her stupidity, ”added the magistrate.

According to the public prosecutor, the spectator in the yellow raincoat faces one to two years in prison depending on the length of time the injured runners are unavailable.

The German Jasha Sütterlin, victim of a broken wrist, is the most seriously affected.

In total, 21 runners were injured by this collective fall.

"The abandonment of the complaint does not mean the abandonment of the prosecution," said prosecutor Camille Mansioni, who said that a second complaint had been filed by the CPA (Associate Professional Cyclists), international association of professional runners.
