Ukraine beat Sweden in the round of 16 of the Euro thanks to a goal from their replacement Artem Dovbyk in extra time in extra time (2-1 ap).

The Ukrainians, who will play their first quarter-final of the competition, will face England.

Ukraine qualified for the quarter-finals of the Euro on Tuesday, where they will face England on Saturday in Rome, after beating Sweden (2-1 ap), after a closed match and which has switched to the exclusion of Swede Marcus Danielson.

The Ukrainian rescue came in the 120th minute, the last, when everyone was ready for the penalty shootout.

But Sweden then played 10-11 from the 99th minute and the red card received by defender Danielson for a terrible sole on Artem Besedin.

On a last center from the left signed Oleksandr Zinchenko, Artem Dovbyk, entered a quarter of an hour earlier, placed a diving header which gave Ukraine its best result in a Euro.

Ukraine's first quarter-final of a Euro

The Ukrainians have already played a quarter-final, but it was in the World Cup, in 2006, when Andriy Shevchenko was in peak and not in costume on the bench. This qualification is therefore an achievement, and beating England on Saturday in Rome would be another, even bigger.

In the meantime, the last of the knockout stages of the Euro was not the most exciting, far from it, and after the intensity and indecision of the two extended matches on Monday, between Spain and Croatia (5-3 after) then between Switzerland and France (3-3, 5-4 tab), Glasgow's 120 minutes sometimes seemed very long. It must be said that Ukraine had gone through the very small door to reach the knockout stages, third in their group with only one victory and two defeats. But they're in the quarterfinals, and that's already a huge achievement.
