Professional cyclist Mathieu van der Poel won the second stage of the 108th Tour de France and won the yellow jersey.

The Dutch cross world champion won on Sunday on the Mûr-de-Bretagne in front of the Slovenes Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic.

With this, van der Poel took off France's world champion Julian Alaphilippe from the overall leader's yellow jersey.

Alaphilippe won the opening stage from Brest to Landerneau on Saturday and is now second ahead of Pogacar.
